A woman goes to jail for 75 years for killing her boyfriend’s son | Illinois News

Pekin, Illinois (AP) — A woman in Illinois, accused of resenting her boyfriend’s four-year-old son, was sentenced to 75 years in prison for murdering her boyfriend.

Les Rejet was portrayed as a selfish substance abuser who didn’t like being at East Peoria’s home with Tate Therman. When he died in 2020, the boy had multiple bruises and abrasions.

“Defendants are operational, dishonest, unreliable, parasitic, cold, selfish and cruel,” state aide Mara Mishler told the judge on Friday.

Jet, 35, was convicted of a murder once in July. Her decision was strengthened by the age of the victims, The journal star reported.

The boy’s dad, Jeremy Sirman, said Jet, who had a two-year-old child at home, seemed affectionate.

“All the while, she was hiding her malicious behavior,” Sirman said. “I had a hard time reaching an agreement, knowing that I couldn’t hear Tate say,’Daddy, I love you.'”

Jet claimed she was innocent. She wrote to the judge, but did not speak in court.
