Mars Meteorites Show Signs Of Chemicals To Support Present-Day Microbial Life

Mars can habitat life. The planet’s subsurface has ingredients to support microbial life. The latest study has said that the Red Planet’s subsurface could be the next destination in the solar system for present-day life. The study involved close analysis of the chemical composition of the planet’s meteorites. A meteorite is a rock. These rocks reach the surface of a planet after surviving their atmosphere. The meteorites used during the study had blasted off the Martian surface and reached Earth. The study said that these Martian rocks when are in consistent contact with water, produce the required chemical energy to support microbial life.

The study said that Martian microbial communities are similar to those present in Earth’s unlit depths. The findings are an indication of vast swaths of the planet’s crust. It means that much of the Red Planet’s subsurface can support life. Several past studies have suggested the presence of groundwater on Mars. Besides, there are signs that water once was present on the surface. The implication of the latest study is that wherever groundwater is available on Mars, chances are high of having essential chemicals that could support life. It added there is a high chance that Mars can sustain microbial life today. The latest findings were carried in an Astrobiology journal.

Researchers utilized data gathered from the Curiosity rover of NASA. They also studied data obtained from other orbiting spacecraft. They found that different types of meteorites have all ingredients in good amounts for Earth-like habitation. The planet, however, lacks a plate tectonics system like Earth. The system automatically recycles crustal rocks constantly. Researchers probed the Red Planet’s atmosphere and also mapped the surface at least at six places. They concluded that there is a high possibility of present-day life. Several missions have been launched by NASA and other agencies to search for signs of life on Mars. NASA’s most advanced Perseverance rover has just converted some Martian carbon dioxide into oxygen. The rover arrived on the plant’s surface in February to search for signs of microbial life.

Health Experts Say Loss Of Smell Is A More Reliable Indicator Of COVID19 Infection Among People

A study has shown that loss of smell might be a more obvious sign of COVID infection than cough. This study has been done by the scientists of the University College London (UCL). They have conducted a test on 590 people who have lost their sense of smell. Around 80 percent of these patients have been found to have antibodies for coronavirus. Nearly 40 percent of patients who have antibodies have no other symptoms. However, this study has been conducted on patients who have mild symptoms only. There are many shreds of evidence, which show that loss of smell and taste can be the sign of COVID19 infection. It has started to emerge in April 2020. The officials have included it in the list of coronavirus symptoms in mid-May 2020.

The official guidelines of COVID19 say that people who experience loss of smell or taste need to self isolate themselves and apply for a test. Health officials as well have advised people saying that if anybody is feeling a loss of smell or taste they need to self-quarantine themselves. The lead author of the UCL study has said that cough and fever are still crucial symptoms, which are experienced by many people. Experts have recruited people by sending texts via four GP surgeries in London and enrolled those people who have reported experiencing loss of smell and taste in the past four weeks.

All the participants of the study have tested positive for antibodies. The study has suggested that some of the participants have a past COVID19 infection as well. However, some of the experts say that there might be a certain constraint to this study as it has included only those people who have mild symptoms. They have said such participants cannot be the representatives of all COVID19 patients. However, the findings of the UCL study have importance for people who are feeling a change in their sense of smell or self-isolating people, who are not able to smell like everyday things like perfume, bleach, toothpaste, or coffee. The study says that not all the COVID19 patients will lose their sense of taste or smell but if they do, it is more likely to be due to COVID19 infection. The author of the study has said that people need to look out for a loss of smell without having a blocked or running nose.

Legal Cannabis Market Demand and Opportunities in Australian Region

“Australia Legal Cannabis Market” is the title of an upcoming report offered by MarketResearch.Biz. The report contains information and data, and inputs from both primary and secondary data sources, that have been verified and validated by experts in the target market. The report presents a thorough study of revenues, historical data, and information, key developments, and strategies by major players that offer vital insights and perspectives in various scenarios market. Besides critical data and related information, the report includes key trends (both present and future), factors that are driving market growth, factors that are or could be potential restraints to market growth, as well as opportunities that can be leveraged for potential revenue generation in untapped areas. It also covers threats or challenges for existing as well as new entrants in the market. The Australian legal cannabis market has been segmented on the basis of product type, as well as application.

Overview:

Medical marijuana or medical cannabis is cannabis and cannabinoids that are prescribed by physicians for their patients to treat ailments. Australia first legalized medical marijuana at a federal level in 2016. In 2019, Canberra became the continent’s first city to legalize the cultivation and possession of marijuana for adult consumption.

Dynamics:

The use of marijuana in Australia, at a federal level, is illegal. However, according to the new cannabis laws that have been passed by the Australian government allowed for the cultivation and possession of marijuana in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). What this implies is that, residents of the city of Canberra are now able to cultivate two cannabis plants and possess up to 50 grams or 1.76 oz. of marijuana. It appears that many of the other states will be following suite in legalizing the use of marijuana for recreational purposes. This is a primary factor that is expected to significantly impact the revenue growth of Australia’s legal cannabis market in the years to come.

The process of presently accessing medical hemp oil in Australia is a tedious and expensive feat, as no cannabidiol (CBD) /hemp products have been approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA). Patients that wish to purchase these products, must first apply and qualify for them through the Australian government’s special access scheme. This factor could potentially restrain future revenue growth of Australia’s legal cannabis market. Additionally, the rising illicit cannabis trade is another factor that is impacting the revenue growth of this global market.

Segmentation of the Australia legal cannabis market is as follows:

In terms of product type, the marijuana flower segment accounted for the majority revenue share of the Australia legal cannabis market in 2019, owing to the large population of cannabis smokers and its widespread availability. Although, the oil segment is expected to index the fastest rate of revenue growth of this global market in the foreseeable future.

On the basis of application, the market is classified into adult use, medical, and B2B sales. The medical application segment held the highest number of shares of the Australian market, owing to the increasing awareness of medical cannabis products.

In A Big Blow To Elon Musk's Mission To Mars, SpaceX Starship Explodes During Pressure Test

Elon Musk's mission to Mars received a major setback after a SpaceX Starship exploded during a pressurization test at its Boca Chica facility in Texas. The next-generation SN1 vehicle was at test stand when the malfunction occurred. It was being filled with liquid nitrogen when the explosion took place. The incident was captured by several observers and the video is being widely shared on social media. The top section went flying after the explosion and hit the ground which followed a second explosion. There were no reports of any injuries and pictures show little of Starship SN1 survived. Speculations are that Starship SN1 could only have been used for static-fire tests. Another prototype Starship SN2, which is under construction, could be used for test flights.

SpaceX has not responded to request for a remark on the incident. Interestingly, technology entrepreneur and company founder Elon Musk – who often tweets about developments related to Starship – has also not posted anything on the microblogging site about the incident. This is the second time when Elon Musk’s SN1 vehicle has exploded. Earlier in November, another such vehicle named Starship Mark 1 had failed a cryogenic pressure test. It was also undergoing a similar test when bulkhead failed and the upper part of the vehicle exploded. The company had tried to play-down the incident saying the failure was neither unexpected nor a serious setback. The company said that the explosion took place as the vehicle was being tested to check maximum pressure.

The recent test was reported to be followed by a suborbital test flight in which the vehicle was supposed to fly at an altitude of 20 kilometers before landing back on earth. Earlier in December, Musk had said that flight would take place in less than two or three months. The setback comes at a time when Musk is facing tough competition in the American space race because of companies like Blue Origin set up by billionaires Jeff Bezos. Bezos even reportedly hired Rajeev Badyal last year. Badyal is former vice president of SpaceX.

Scientists Test A Prototype Automated Blood Drawing And Testing Robot On Humans

Scientists are going to introduce a medical robot, which has been specifically developed to collect blood samples. These robots are expected to outperform human health professionals in a clinical trial. It was initially developed a few years back and but was only tested on plastic arms. However, now it has been successfully tested on live humans. A team of scientists from Rutgers University has developed this robot, which proves to be better than humans in collecting blood samples from patients. Experts claim that this device will save time in clinics and help many people. The first human trial of the robot has shown that it allows nurses and doctors to pay more attention to the patients than jabbing them with needles.

The Robot is guided with an ultrasound image, which helps the device to find the right vein easily. At the time, healthcare professionals find it harder to access the right vein. Sometimes, they may need additional shots before hitting the right vein. It can result in missed sticks or injury to the patient. When the healthcare professional misses the right vein, they need extra personnel to try to find another vein, which makes the process more exhausting and time-consuming. This robotic device provides quick results, which makes the whole process easier, so doctors and healthcare workers can spend more time treating the patients. The findings of the trial on live humans have been published in the journal Technology.

The trial was conducted on 31 participants, which showed an almost 87 percent success rate. Experts said that for 25 participants, it was easy to access the right vein. The device had a 97 percent success rate for those 25 participants. Along with the ultrasound image, the team has incorporated miniaturized robotics into the new device to determine the best vessels for access. Through this, the automated device can robotically guide the attached needle towards the vein lumen center. It reduces the risk of needles rupturing the vein as well. Researchers have said that, later, this robotic device can be useful to other areas of vascular access like IV catheterization, central venous access, dialysis, and arterial line placement.

SpaceX Rocket Will Loft NASA PACE Earth Mission by 2022

On Feb. 4, SpaceX has won a contract from NASA to launch its environmental research satellite. The satellite would fly atop a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral by the end of 2020. Through the mission, the American space agency aims to gather data on clouds and ocean ecosystems. Notably, it is a scientific satellite of the Earth that has defended revocation three separate times from the Trump administration. NASA has announced that SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket will launch the PACE (Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, ocean Ecosystem) spacecraft. According to the agency, the deal values around $80.4 million, including the launch and associated services. At the time of launch, the PACE satellite will weigh approximately 1,700 kg. Besides, it will bear an ocean color imager along with a pair of polarimeter instruments.

Previously, the White House suggested ceasing the PACE and other Earth science missions in the government’s first three budget proposals. But Congress has revitalized the trio events by allotting funds to them. The effort also includes the economic year 2020 budget approved by lawmakers and signed legislation by the President in December. Currently, the American space agency is proceeding with the evolution of the PACE mission. NASA also noted that the spacecraft would assist researchers in inspecting the variety of organisms stimulating seafood networks and the American economy. Even more, it will help to deploy advanced data products to lessen worries in worldwide climate prototypes. Eventually, the researchers will be able to enhance the inter-disciplinary knowledge of the planetary system.

Officials noted it would also continue methodical records of crucial atmospheric factors linked with air quality and Earth’s environment. SpaceX president and COO Gwynne Shotwell said the company is grateful to continue assisting serious scientific experimental missions of NASA. He added launching PACE will help humankind to understand better, safeguard, and conserve the Earth. As per SpaceX, the Falcon 9 rocket scheduled to launch PACE will utilize a formerly-flown reusable first stage booster. Reportedly, the PACE will glide around 676 kilometers above the Earth in a polar sun-synchronous orbit.

Newly Proposed Anti-Solar Cells Can Generate Power at Night

The existing solar cells technology can produce electricity in day time only. They do not function at night; thus, we have to reserve the heat they make during the day. Later, we can use this energy to power things during night time. The entire scenario is fine, except that the cells function in the daytime only. But that might not be the case in the upcoming few years. Maybe, we will get solar panels that will perform day and night. Scientists from the University of California have proposed the latest theory of solar panels in a paper published in the journal ACS Photonics.

The researchers say it is possible to create solar cells capable of producing electricity at nighttime. As per the research, in order to create such cells, develop one that functions conversely to solar panels work through the day. They have dubbed the latest technology as the anti-solar panel. The idea of making solar cells working at night has inspired the researchers to develop the new approach. It utilizes the Earth as a source of heat, and the dark sky as a radiator or heat-sink. As a result, we get a nighttime photovoltaic cell that can produce electricity at night time.

The study highlights the concept of cells that could produce around 50 watts of electricity per square meter. The paper states the device could make up a quarter of energy at nighttime as that of a standard daytime solar panel. Jeremy Munday, leading author of the study, said both solar and anti-solar panels are basically a heat engine. He added it comprises two bodies with diverse temperatures and a mean to convert that power. Munday said the procedure is the same as the functioning of a regular solar cell but in the opposite way. In the nighttime, the Earth is relatively hot, and the space is cold. Considering the hot and the cold body, heat is passing from the Earth to the exterior space. Notably, the device traps this heat and convert it into power.

Munday added this type of devices use thermoradiative cell to produce electricity. Whereas, the conventional solar cells use the photovoltaic cells. The daytime functioning solar panels comprise of silicon that traps light. But for the current device, researchers are seeking a material that can seize exceptionally lengthy wavelength light. They aim to use mercury alloys that would offer the functionality at night time. Even more, Munday and the team are working on building models to make this concept working.

Ozone-Depleting Chemicals Resulted in Arctic Warming, Study Finds

Researchers blame carbon emissions and greenhouse gases liable for rapidly melting ice sheets. Well, there’s another culprit for the same. A new research claims loss of the ozone layer may have partially contributed for Arctic warming over the past five decades. A global group of experts says the discovery has stressed ODS (ozone-depleting substances) as an undetermined origin of climate transformation in the 20th century. ODS is a cluster of extremely powerful greenhouse gases. Besides, these are halogen compounds that wipe out the defensive layer of ozone in the high atmosphere. The latest study reveals the gases may be liable for over half of Arctic warming and loss of sea ice between 1955 to 2005. Even more, researchers claim ODS for around one-third of the average global warming throughout the period.

The finding, released in the journal Nature Climate Change, relies on several climate prototypes. Through this, researchers aim to analyze the impact of these compounds on the temperature rise of the Arctic, particularly ice loss. If there’s any ray of hope, it reveals that the hard work to eliminate them in the eighties was a great idea for the environment as well as the ozone layer. ODS are artificial chemicals like CFC or chlorofluorocarbons. Those compounds firstly emerged between 1920-1930 for use in aerosol propellants, refrigerators, or solvents. Scientists are hopping over the point because the use of ODS increased as refrigerators gained popularity. During the trial, the team has considered two scenarios.

In the first one, includes the emissions followed the direction they did over the upcoming five decades. In another one, researchers had kept the ODS at the levels of 1955. The outcomes have revealed that beneath the baseline scenario, the average yearly rise in global temperatures remained 1.1 degrees Fahrenheit. On the other hand, models without ODS have shown an increase in global temperatures by 0.7 degrees Fahrenheit. As a result, researchers are claiming those substances for one-third of global warming over the estimated period. The impact of preventing ODS from increasing stretched well beyond air temperatures. The research assigns September’s half of the ice loss in the Arctic sea to the substances over the five-decade phase of the study.

Scientists Believe They Have Found Huge Crater Left By 800,000 Year Old Giant Meteor

A huge crater formed due to the impact of one of the largest known meteorites has finally been discovered. Scientists believe that the crater lies beneath lava in the Southeast Asian nation of Laos. The crater was formed after the giant meteor struck earth nearly 800,000 years ago. The meteor was over two kilometers or 1.2 miles wide. According to a new research paper, the hidden crater formed because of the impact is expected to be about 17 kilometers long and 13 kilometers wide. The paper, which has been published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences journal, states that it is 218 cubic miles area of volcanic filed in Laos.

A meteorite is an object that originates in outer space and survives during its journey through the atmosphere and hit surface of our planet. The impact of this 800,000 years old meteorite was such that debris flung across Australia, Asia, and Antarctica. The first hint about the impact site came by a set of small, pebble-like black glassy objects called tektites. Scientists believe they were formed after earth material melted due to the impact of a meteorite. Professor Kerry Sieh said the existence of tektites itself signifies how powerful the impact of the meteorite could be. Sieh is the principal investigator for the Earth Observatory of Singapore.

Researchers have determined source crater for most of the tektites but the Australasian strewn field remains a mystery. It extends from South Australia to southern China and covers about 10 percent of the earth’s surface. “There have been several attempts to find the impact site but our study is the first to show so much evidence,” Sieh said. The evidence presented by the researchers ranges from physical characteristics to chemical natures to gravity measurements. But more research needs to be done to confirm the theory. The next step is drilling down a few hundred meters to find if the rocks down there are the ones expected at an impact site.

SpaceX Launched New Batch of Starlink Satellites for Mega Internet Constellation

On Monday, SpaceX has deployed the latest batch of 60 Starlink internet-releasing satellites into the orbit. Now, the tiny satellites will enter into Earth’s orbit at the height of 174 miles. After that, the group will slowly move upwards up to 217 miles. The company eventually aims to build the world’s largest satellite constellation. Through the effort, it will offer constant top-speed internet from the space across the globe. But SpaceX may face some challenges while providing the space-based internet service on the ground. First of all, it will require to assemble small terminals, which will enable users to access the internet.

According to the company’s blogpost, Starlink will provide reliable and high-speed internet even at remote locations. In other words, users will be able to access the internet at regions where access has remained costly, unreliable, or entirely unavailable. Well, in the current year, SpaceX launches will mostly include the deployment of Starlink satellites. Elon Musk, the SpaceX CEO, has said they will require a minimum of 400 Starlink satellites to provide minor broadband service. Even more, the company will need no less than 800 small satellites to offer medium coverage.

SpaceX is not the only company preparing to develop a satellite constellation to offer internet service. But currently, it is the dominant constellation of telecom satellites. Even more, the Elon Musk company has obtained federal support to deliver over 10,000 satellites. In the upcoming time, it aims to receive approval for launching more 30,000 satellites in orbit.

On the other hand, OneWeb has deployed a set of six satellites in the previous year. Whereas, after the latest launch, the number of SpaceX’s satellites in space will rise to 180. Even more, the latest effort has paved the way for SpaceX to become the first company to offer widespread internet coverage from space. As per the company, Starlink will first start offering internet services in some locations of Canada and the U.S. Later, it will debut the service to a global extent. Yet SpaceX has not announced details of pricing plans for its latest service.

First Interplanetary CubeSats from NASA is Dead

The first interplanetary CubeSat which was sent on the mission to Red Planet Mars has gone silent. The first CubeSat was deployed by NASA for an interplanetary journey and has clicked some fantastic pictures of the planet. The CubeSats was the MarCO or Mars Cube One. NASA announced the unfortunate death of the CubeSat behind Mars today. There were two CubeSats sent with the InSight mission to study the planet by orbiting around it. The MarCO-A and Marco-B stopped sending signals back to the station, and the attempts to revive them were failed.

The CubeSats are the small satellites, which are used as experimental projects to understand if the small satellites can survive the space and send the information back on earth effectively. Both of these Satellites were on the mission from May 2018 and were accompanying the InSights Lander. Before landing on the Mars, InSights rover deployed these two CubeSats in the Orbit and started it descends. The InSight landing was a success and MarCO-A, and MarCO-B were in orbit maintaining downlink with earth. But today, they are announced as dead because all of the attempts to regain connections with them failed.

Andy Klesh from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory said that these two CubeSats were an experimental project and had completed all their tasks successfully before dying behind Mars. Also, he said that the mission was all about pushing the limits of miniature satellites in the space and future satellites might even go further. The MarCO CubeSats were deployed to keep an eye on InSights Lander and also to relay the information back to earth faster than standard communication system. It was the MarCO-A and MarCO-B satellites that informed the ground control of NASA InSight Rovers successful landing on Martian Surface.

Researchers Describe Ancient Reptile Similar To Platypus

Researchers recently discovered specimens of the mysterious, platypus-like reptile. The remnants suggest that the ancient creature has tiny eyes for its size. While the duck-billed platypus is one of the strange creatures in the planet, its ancient relative was just odd as it. Scientists recently discovered Eretmorhipis carrolldongi, a marine reptile. 250 million years ago the creature swam in shallow sea water. Experts say the biological features of the creature are strange and puzzling. New research in the journal Scientific Reports describes the newly found species. Previously, scientists had only some parts of fossils, remarkably absence of skull. But the two new fossils include a skull. The new finding indicates that the Eretmorhipis carrolldongi had a bill made of cartilage.
Depending on its appearance, the creature seems to be a unique one. Depending upon a study of the bone structure of the fossils, an international group of researchers has concluded that Eretmorhipis once backed flat cartilaginous bills. Reptiles like Platypus have bills filled with receptors. They use those bills to detect a target in low-visibility. They use the sense of touch in muddy streams where vision is unclear. Provided that platypuses don’t depend on their sight, and their eyes are relatively small.
The structure of Eretmorhipis carrolldongi’s skull reveals that they also had small eyes. They used bills to sense for prey, i.e., they used the same technique as platypuses. The new creature measured about 70 centimeters long with a long firm body. It had a small head, tiny eyes, and a set of flippers. Prof. Ryosuke Motani, a paleontologist at the University of California, says they are not sure whether Eretmorhipis ate or not. Probably, those reptiles fed on small worms, shrimps, and other small invertebrates. He said, the modern world is not suitable for it, but it didn’t have any enemies currently.

Scientists trace the origin of High energy Cosmic Radiation

We believe UV rays are harmful to our body that comes from Sun. Which is a wrong concept it’s not harmful as it directly never touch over the body? The rays of the sun kill the harmful particles presents in Air which is tiny and invisible. Every day has a different study which has both positive as well as negative effects of it. National Science Foundation announced the greatest discovery this week – which provides an answer to a question that scientists have been asking for so long. Team NSF ice cube Neutrino Observatory at the Amundsen-Scott South pole station was able to trace the source of high-energy cosmic rays known as a Blazer – which is a galaxy Centre that produces enormous particle jets, powered by a supermassive black hole. Cosmic rays are vigorous particles that trek at near speed of light and assault the Earth.
Doug Cowen, A professor of Physics and Astronomy Astrophysics at Penn State University, co-authors of the article published in science said – This testimony launches the new field of high-energy neutrino astronomy which we assume will yield exciting break through our understanding & fundamental concept of Physics. This study includes how and where these ultra-high-energy particles are produced last – which is also the infancy of an entirely new description of research of the Cosmos.
Taboada scientists of MAGIC telescope on Canary Island said- That prompt an avalanche of follow-ups. Kurahashi Neilson says- this part of the sky is very much special for 4-5 months starting from December 2014. Ice cube espies on the large fluidity of neutrinos coming out from the same area but not so energetic as compared to September 22 neutrino. Nearly 20 telescopes on the ground and in space purge the patch beyond the electromagnetic spectrum from low-energy radio waves to high-energy gamma rays. Studies have no limits it differs from place to place and from person to person, universe studies are those scripts that have no ends. You just flow with the glow of it.
