Audrey Diwan’s “L’Evenement” (“Happening”) won the Golden Lion at the 78th International Film Festival.

The Silver Lion went to Paolo Sorrentino’s “Hand of God”.

Over the last decade, the festival has reestablished itself as an outstanding starting point for award-winning applicants. Chloe Zhao’s “Nomadland” won the award last year and won the Oscar for Best Directing, Best Director and Best Actor.

Zhao was part of the jury who decided the winner. It was directed by “Parasite” and was headed by Oscar winner Bong Joon-ho.

The ceremony at the Sara Grande Theater concludes the 78th edition of the world’s oldest festival, which began on September 1.
