Ann Arbor, Michigan (AP) — When 25 Michigan routed north of Illinois on Saturday, Breakcolumn rushed to 123 yards and three touchdowns.

Wolverines (3-0) recorded touchdowns on the first nine drives, eight of which were on the ground. The 10th drive also included a touchdown run, but was called back due to a holding penalty and Michigan flipped the ball down. Wolverine never punted.

North Illinois played touchdown at 8:28.

Husky (1-2) scored a field goal in the second match, but it was already clear that he had a big problem.

Michigan recorded a short hasty touchdown on its first four possessions (two by Hassan Haskins), leading 28-3 in the second quarter.

Wolverines changed a bit on his fifth possession, scoring on an 87-yard pass from Cade McNamara to Cornelius Johnson. This was the third longest pass play in school history, leading 35-3 in half.

Wolverines switched quarterbacks in half-time and put in JJ McCarthy, but he didn’t throw a pass when Colm scored a 49-yard run to increase the margin to 42-3. Michigan used six quarterbacks in the game.

Michigan hasn’t played in northern Illinois since the 33-17 victory in 2005, but it still had an element of revenge on Wolverine. Huskys quarterback Rocky Lombardi beat Michigan 27-23 in Ann Arbor last season.

Take away

Michigan is far superior to the Central American congress team who gave up 50 points on Wyoming. That’s not surprising, but Wolverine has faced some difficult times with MAC in recent years.

Husky won the opening round at Georgia Institute of Technology and led Wyoming in the last two minutes, but the Big House was a step too far. Even on a sleepy Saturday-the late Michigan student section didn’t show up at all-Northern Illinois overmatched every part of the game.

Impact on polls

Wolverine could be in the top 20 after disassembling a team that has a road win against a Power Five opponent. However, the game was so biased that voters may have a hard time taking it seriously.

next

Husky: Host Maine next Saturday.

Wolverine: We’ll be hosting Rutgers next Saturday to start playing Big Ten.
