Federico Navarro joins the club and Chicago Fire FC returns to play after a two-week break

Chicago-After a two-week break for the MLS International Break, Chicago Fire FC is looking forward to a stretch run in the 2021 season.

The playoffs require some work. The club sits 7 points behind the last Eastern Conference spot to play in 12 games. They also need to make up their ground primarily on the road, with eight out of twelve games taking place away from Chicago.

However, the club will make major additions in the next two months to support their goals, starting with a match at Sporting Kansas City on Saturday.

Defensive midfielder Federico Navarro will make his debut on fire tonight as he continues the backend of six road trips. The match can be seen on WGN-TV Channel 9 at 7:30 pm.

He was acquired by the club on August 6th from Club Atlético Talleres in Argentina before the end of the transfer period and has signed a contract with the club option for 2026 until 2025.

“I think I’m here to offer a lot. I think my feature is more aggressive. I bring a lot of dynamic movements, and it fits the league very well. I think there is, “Navarro said through an interpreter this week. “What I bring is a little balance and equilibrium, and I think it can cover a lot of space.”

The 21-year-old began playing professionally in Argentina in 2018, playing 52 times in Tagerez and four times in the U-19 Argentine national team in 2018. After clearing the protocol, Navarro started training at the club this week and is already in the eyes of manager Rafael Wicky.

“Yesterday I met him for about 25 minutes in the little scrimmage we had and he looked good. He looked good. In the last 25 minutes he told us about him. I made sure I knew it, “said Wicky. “He has a slightly different profile than many other midfielders, and I think it’s a good addition for our team and an addition we need.

“Not only will he be needed in the coming weeks, but he will move forward towards the end of the season and the next season. This is the profile this team needs.”

After waiting over a month, when the MLS season stretch run begins, they have a chance to see his actions.
