Police: A man who died after a car hit him in Springfield | Top Story

Springfield, Illinois (Wand)-A 37-year-old man was injured and died after a vehicle crash in Springfield on Friday morning.

At around 11:20 am on Friday, Springfield police responded to a traffic accident caused by a vehicle crashing into a pedestrian at the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard and Cherry Road, officials said.

Witnesses told police that the vehicle in the collision was heading south at MacArthur at a green light at the time of the collision.

The 37-year-old boy was taken by ambulance to the emergency room of the Memorial Medical Center and injured.

Victim identification is pending Notification to close relatives.

Coroner, Sangamon County is scheduled for an autopsy of the body on Monday.

Springfield police crime scene services responded to the scene to rebuild the accident, closing MacArthur Boulevard between Ash Street and Outer Park Drive for approximately two hours during the investigation.
