Flagstaff, Arizona (WTVO) – A search for a missing man in the Grand Canyon found the body of another person who had been missing for six years.
The ruins are believed to belong to Scott Walsh, who was last seen to get off the shuttle bus in the national park in 2015. NBC News.. Joel Baird, a spokesman for Parks, said the clothes were so blended into the surroundings that they were placed so that the body couldn’t perceive them.
“Here, we sometimes find unexpected people while searching,” says Baird.
When the remains were found, the search team was looking for the Hungarian national Gabor Berchi Tomscani. Berczi-Tomscanyi was reported missing while traveling in the southwestern part of the country in Las Vegas in late July. The car he was driving was found in one of the Grand Canyon parking lots in mid-August. A few days later, his body was found about 430 feet below the edge of the Yavapai Point canyon.
The body of another person was found during an aerial search. According to Baird, the ruins, found about 600 feet below the oversight of Pipe Creek, were only three miles from where Walsh’s Daypack was discovered in 2015.
Park officials see the remains found in the immediate vicinity of the man’s daypack and believe that the remains belong to Walsh. Remin also wore a jacket and found a driver’s license issued to Walsh.
The Coconino County Medical Inspector’s Office is reportedly working to verify the identity of the body, and county spokeswoman Trish Leeds said DNA testing may be needed.
