Warsaw, Poland (AP) —The United Nations Immigration Service said on Monday that it was deeply concerned about the “disastrous situation” facing migrants stuck on the Polish-Belarus border for weeks.
However, Poland’s Prime Minister Mateus Morawicki is in Warsaw, where a group of people stuck at the border are provided with food and money by Belarusian security agencies to try to take people illegally to the country. Said it was used.
The three European Union countries bordering Belarus, Poland, Lithuania and Latvia, have accused Belarus’ President Alexander Lukashenko of illegally pushing immigrants from Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria into their country. While thousands of migrants have been pushed back or placed in closed centers for migrants, the main focus of the weeks has been about 30 stuck on the Polish-Belarus border for weeks. It was a group of people.
The International Organization for Migration in Geneva said stranded migrants were “faced with extremely harsh conditions and had limited access to drinking water, food, medical assistance, sanitation and shelter.”
“Prolonging this unacceptable situation poses a serious threat to the lives and health of migrants,” said IOM.
The fate of the group also raised concerns in Poland among those who condemned the government’s response to being inhumane. Government actions include deploying soldiers to the border, reinforcing razors with wires, and refusing to apply for asylum for stranded groups.
Last week, the Polish president also declared an emergency, and parliament will vote Monday afternoon to vote on whether to abolish the emergency.
Morawicki accused opposition politicians of protesting the government’s actions to carry out “scenarios according to plans written in Minsk and Moscow.”
With Russia launching military exercises later this month, Moravietsuki declared that “we were not in such a tense situation for thirty years.”
