A school bus crashed and rolled over while police chasing northwestern Indiana

Gary, Indiana (AP) — Police said the school bus overturned when a man driving away from a police attempt to stop traffic collided with a school bus and police in northwestern Indiana chased him.

When the bus rolled over in Gary on Tuesday afternoon, there were no children on the bus, said Lake County Sheriff Oscar Martinez.

The bus driver and assistant got off the bus after the policeman removed the windshield of the vehicle. Both complained of pain but apparently did not suffer serious injuries, Martinez Said (Northwest Indiana) Times.

Around 3 pm on Tuesday, a Sheriff at Lake County tried to pull the vehicle because the driver did not activate the turn signal twice, according to the sheriff.

Martinez said police officers went through an alley along Gary Street to chase the driver and then returned to the street to hit a school bus.

Four people in the suspect’s car were arrested and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The driver who led the chase is an 18-year-old Gary man who is being asked for two warrants. Police recovered the loaded pistol in the car.

According to police, the driver’s previous allegations included robbery with personal injury and domestic violence. His identity has not been revealed.
