Chicago (AP) — Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane missed practice on Saturday due to the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol.
Fellow forward Ryan Carpenter and defensive Erik Gustafsson also missed practice for the same reason.
This announcement does not necessarily mean that any player tested positive. General manager Stan Bowman said the team was 100% vaccinated during the training camp.
“At this point, they are participating in the protocol and we don’t know every day how it evolves,” said Jeremy Colliton. “In most cases, it’s out of our control, so we’ll adjust as things progress here.”
Chicago will host the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday night. The struggling Blackhawks are off to a 0-4-1 start.
The Blackhawks have recalled Forward Reese Johnson from Rockford in the American Hockey League. Johnson had goals and assists during Ice Hogs, who lost to Iowa 6-3 on Friday night.
