Chicago — President of the Fraternal Order of Police John Catanzara wants a crowd to appear in the city council on Monday to uphold an ordinance that violates the mayor’s COVID-19 vaccine obligations.
“Let’s expect enough city councilors to do the right thing and push to enact the ordinance, and this vaccine policy will be reset and negotiated as it should be,” Katanzara said. Told.
Katanzara said in a recent video that she hopes to pass a draft ordinance that overturns Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s vaccination obligations.
“This ordinance absolutely gives city councilors the power to make serious decisions about the city’s workforce and their salaries,” Katanzara said.
This proposal makes an obligation or effort to leave employees unpaid, subject to the approval of the city council.
It also abolishes mandates, invalidates them and allows employees to retroactively receive missed payments.
Mayor Lightfoot continues to stick to her stance and is not sprouting.
“This is a condition of employment. People have to obey the rules,” Lightfoot said.
According to sources, 70% of Chicago police officials reported vaccination status to the city from 68% at the beginning of the week.
Currently, there are about 25 police officers who have not obeyed the mayor’s orders.
“More than 20 officers held the line, did not obey orders and became unpaid. We set up a hero fund on the FOP website. The money was distributed unpaid to officers. We will understand the calculations of how they will help this financial hardship that they voluntarily took on our behalf, “said Katanzara.
Katanzara requires anyone who disagrees with the mandate to attend Congress on Monday at 10 am.
