Redmond, WA (AP) — Microsoft’s cloud computing business growth helped boost profits in the July-September quarter by 24% compared to the same period last year.

A high-tech company based in Redmond, Washington reported a quarterly profit of $ 17.2 billion, or $ 2.27 per share, above Wall Street’s forecast of $ 2.08 per share on Tuesday.

Microsoft’s profits have skyrocketed across the pandemic, thanks to continued demand for software and cloud computing services for remote work and research.

Microsoft’s fourth-quarter sales were $ 45.3 billion, up 22% from last year. Analysts wanted $ 44 billion in revenue, according to FactSet Research.
