Peter Scolari, co-star of “Bosom Buddies” and “Girls”, died at age 66

Actor Peter Scolari has died from a lengthy cancer battle.

TMZ reports that Scolari, 66, who starred with Tom Hanks on the sitcom “Bosom Buddies,” has died. He was diagnosed with cancer two years ago, but the diagnosis was kept private.

Scolari was featured on the map with Hanks on the ABC sitcom “Bosom Buddies” in 1980. This is a show about two bachelor’s degrees disguised as women to become roommates. He co-starred in “New Heart”. Recently, he played Lena Dunham’s father on HBO’s “Girls.” He won an Emmy for that role.

Scolari also played roles in “Murphy Brown,” “The West Wing,” “ER,” and “Ally McBeal,” and was successful in several Broadway plays. He survived by his wife and four children.
