Has been updated:Washington (AP) — Vice President Kamala Harris will receive a COVID-19 booster shot on Saturday, the White House has announced.
Harris was vaccinated with the first Moderna vaccine on December 29th and the second vaccination shortly after the inauguration on January 26th.
According to the White House, Harris, 57, qualifies as a booster because she travels frequently for work and interacts with a variety of people as part of her job.
US regulators have approved booster doses for people over the age of 65, people with pre-existing conditions, and people at high risk of exposure for work.
About two-thirds of Americans (nearly 221 million) have received at least one shot, and nearly 17 million have boosters.
