Gainesville, Florida (AP) — Colin Castleton scored 15 points, a career record of 16 rebounds and 6 blocks, and four Florida players when the Gators knocked off Florida’s 20th State 71-55. I was alone. Sunday to end seven consecutive defeats in the series.
Florida (2-0) took a big step in Mike White’s seventh season, winning his first match against the state’s biggest rival since 2013.
White revamped the roster with four additional transfers, three of which were larger than Seminole (1-1). Brandon McKissic and Myreon Jones each scored 12 points, and Phlandrous Fleming added 9 points from the bench.
Anthony Durji lacked 15 points and 7 rebounds for the Gators.
“It’s been a long time,” Durji told the audience after the victory.
Florida dominated the second half after dragging one in the break. The Gators put pressure on every pass, forced the wrong shot and controlled the board. Castleton took the lead, scoring 8 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks in the second half.
Maliku Osborne led the Seminole with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Matthew Cleveland has added 11 points and 6 boards.
The last meeting was hurt when Florida forward Kayon Tae Johnson collapsed on the court in Tallahassee. Johnson became a trauma patient in front of his teammates, coaches, opponents and all other attendees last December.
Johnson hasn’t played since then and there is no announcement as to why he first fell on the court after an early time-out. He will continue to be part of the Florida team to decide whether to play professionally or monetize with a $ 5 million insurance policy.
After the final buzzer sounded, White and Johnson exchanged long hugs.

Florida could drop out of the next AP College Basketball vote, which will be released on Monday.
Big picture
Florida: Longtime coach Leonard Hamilton lost the top three scorers from last year’s team, but still has a group that can compete for the title of the Atlantic Coast Conference and re-plan at the NCAA tournament. Seems to have.
