Cleveland (AP) — Cleveland Indians will officially move to the Guardians on Friday to complete the gradual renaming over the past few months.
The team sent a release on Wednesday, announcing that the Progressive Field team shop will begin selling Guardian merchandise and souvenirs later this week. The team’s downtown stadium store will exclusively sell Guardian’s gear before it goes on sale at retail stores in northeastern Ohio on November 23.
The team said some digital elements will change on Thursday before the Cleveland team’s website and social media handle the Friday transition.
The AL franchise cleared the final makeover hurdle on Tuesday after a proceeding filed by a local roller derby team called the Guardians was resolved. Both sides have agreed to use the Guardian to move forward with both teams.
