Kankakee, Illinois (AP) — Multiple shooters fired from vehicles passing through a bar in the northern town of Kankakee, Illinois, injuring four people, officials said.
After 12:00 am on Saturday, more than 50 rounds were fired at the crowd outside the International Lounge. NS Daily journal The bar closed early in the evening and reported that the shots were fired from several different weapons.
According to police, the two had to be airlifted to an advanced trauma treatment hospital.
Kankakee police chief Robin Passwater and Mayor Chris Curtis both witnessed the shootings, but the majority complained about not cooperating with law enforcement agencies.
“They keep telling us that they are afraid of retaliation and that excuse is out of date. They know what’s going on. They can’t talk to us and solve the crime. Sometimes it has become acceptable to blame us. “
Curtis said the city will continue to strive to install cameras throughout the city. Cameras may not be able to stop the outbreak of violence, but “it will greatly enhance the ability to solve crimes and bring justice to victims,” he said.
