Has been updated:Pittsburgh (AP) — The Pittsburgh Steelers have put a star on the COVID-19 list outside of linebacker TJ Watt.
The team made an announcement the following Monday, the day after the Steelers embarrassed 41-10 on the roads of Cincinnati.
Watt is the third hottest member of the Steelers on the COVID-19 list in the last few weeks. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick joined the COVID-19 protocol earlier this month.
Roethlisberger went to practice after being on the list on October 13, and missed a tie with Detroit. He virtually joined the next week, losing to the Los Angeles Chargers and returning to play.
Fitzpatrick did not play against the Chargers after being listed on October 15th.
Watt’s 12 1/2 sack ranks second in the NFL, but has been limited to two tackles against Cincinnati while dealing with the hip and knee injuries that the Lions suffered.
Watt’s potential absence is the latest setback in Pittsburgh’s reeling defense. Veterans defensive lineman Tyson Alualu and Stephon Tuitt were injured, and linebacker Robert Spillane was injured on Sunday and did not return.
The Steelers will host Baltimore (8-3), the leader in AFC North, next Sunday.
