Philadelphia (AP) — A jury has convicted a former dean of a business school at Temple University on charges related to a plan to erroneously raise the school’s rankings.
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, a jury deliberated within an hour on Monday before 74-year-old Moshepolat was found guilty of federal conspiracy and wire fraud.
Polat has pushed the university’s online MBA program to the top of the US News & World Report rankings for the fourth consecutive year. With the help of two subordinates who are also indicted, Porat submitted incorrect information about the student’s test scores, work experience, and other data.

Despite being dismissed as Dean, Polat maintained his tenure as Professor Temple. The university has since taken steps to scrutinize and audit data submissions, the newspaper reported.
According to court records, a hearing for the judge to determine Polat’s decision has not yet been scheduled. Prosecutors have previously stated that if convicted, they will face up to 25 years in prison.
