Sangamon County, Illinois (Wand)-Sangamon County Coroner, Jim Almon reveals the identity of a stabbed dead woman Tuesday night at Sayre.
Coroner Almon confirms that the dead woman found in 300 blocks on West Elm Street in Sayre was Deidre Silas, 36, in Springfield.
Silas was declared dead at 6 pm on the scene.
According to coroners, an autopsy was conducted Wednesday morning, and preliminary findings suggest that Cyrus died of multiple sharp force injuries and blunt trauma.
Death is being investigated by the Sangamon County Coroner Office and the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office.
Marc D, Director of DCFS. Smith issued this statement after the incident.
“The Children and Family Services Department is deeply saddened by the tragic death of our colleague Deidre Silas. Our heartfelt condolences, thoughts and prayers are her in this very difficult time. Being with my family. Social work is not just a job, it’s a call. Daddle responded to this call and devoted herself to the children, family and community she served. We thank her for her work forever. She was a wonderful person. Her brightness and positivity are overlooked not only by her family and friends, but also by the second family of DCFS. ”
AFSCME Council 31 Executive Director Roberta Lynch:
“We are the Illinois Children’s and Family Services Department (DCFS) investigator and AFSCME member Deidre Silas of Springfield, who was killed in response to reports of endangered children. It’s heartbreaking. The perpetrators of this indescribable crime are the maximum scope of the law. “
Lynch continues. “Dadle devoted his career to helping young people. Prior to joining DCFS in August 2021, she was engaged in behavioral health and was a union steward at the Juvenile Justice Department for over seven years. This tragedy was very memorable. Frontline DCFS employees like Deidre are often demanding, dangerous and essential, despite inadequate resources and heavy stress. I do a lot of work every day. ”
Lynch adds: “AFSCME carefully investigates the facts of this case and calls for the necessary changes to the operation of DCFS. One person died too much on the service line. Our union is to help handle this trauma. Assisting Deidre’s colleagues in. The hearts and minds of all AFSCME members are in the wake of their serious and meaningless loss to Deidre’s loved ones, especially her children.
