Jacksonville, Illinois (Wand)-In early 2022, the director of the Jacksonville School District released the latest information on student quarantine and mental health days permitted by state law.
According to an email from Steve Ptacek to WAND News, from Prekindergarten to 12 schools Updated Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, Reduces quarantine / quarantine time for asymptomatic people to 5 days.
“Basically nothing has changed for the school,” Ptacek said. “We expect a new guidance document to be released shortly and updated to a new school with a shorter quarantine and exclusion period for asymptomatic schools, even if it was when the new guidance document was released. We will also inform you. There is no change. ”
The new state law allows students to use up to five days of mental health per grade. The law was enacted to provide the support that students may need, but Ptacek warns that these should not be considered merely “holidays.”
“By law, after the second day is used, students may be referred to a school counselor, school social worker, or an external agency, depending on what we feel we need the necessary support.” He said.
Finally, Ptacek discussed future school improvement (SIP) daytime plans. He said the date scheduled for Wednesday, February 16th was moved to Friday, January 14th. On that day, the Morgan County Health Department gives staff the opportunity to get booster shots.
The director added that the district uses the regular half-day SIP day schedule.
