U.S. Republican Congressman Mary Miller challenges Rodney Davis with the support of former President Donald Trump

Illinois Republican Mary Miller, who has gained new support from former President Donald Trump, has announced that he will begin a major challenge to fifth-term US Congressman Rodney Davis.

Known for controversy, including citing Adolf Hitler outside the US Capitol, Miller was first elected in 2020.

“We look forward to working with you in Washington to keep the Constitutional Amendment Article 2, protect borders, save lives, regain high-paying jobs, and continue to make America great.” I wrote it on Twitter.

The Millers Auckland home was drawn into the same district as Murfizboro’s fourth Republican, Mike Bost. She said she would run again before, but it wasn’t clear where she was. Illinois has lost one seat in the house on a new map drawn by the Democratic Party.

Congressmen do not have to live in the district they represent, but Davis of Tailorville raised it as a problem.

“Miller is desperate to stay in Congress and she’s running in an area where she doesn’t live …” Davis’ campaign wrote in a Saturday statement.

Davis, a strong Trump supporter and co-chair of the 2020 reelection campaign in Illinois, has already received support from most Republican county chairs in the district. Davis, who was considering running for governor of Illinois, announced in November that he would aim for a sixth term.

The Illinois primary is in June.
