Clemson and The Ohio State University slipped behind the top ten in the Associated Press college football vote on Sunday, and Penn State University four after another weekend when many ranked teams had problems. I jumped the spot to 6th place.
Even the number one Alabama.
Defending national champion Crimson Tide remained in overwhelming first place after continuing to defeat Florida 31-29, the closest winning margin to Alabama, in the current 17 consecutive wins. Tide won 59 out of 62 votes.
South Carolina and Second Georgia, which had no problems, won the other three first-place votes in the AP Top 25 presented by Regions Bank.
No. 3 Oregon moved up the rankings, No. 4 Oklahoma slipped one after approaching Nebraska and winning.
Iowa is in fifth place for the second straight week, and Pennsylvania State University is in the highest ranking with Nittany Lions in fifth place on November 3, 2019. Pennsylvania State University defeated Auburn on Saturday night, winning two wins against a team ranked with Wisconsin.
Both No. 9 Clemson and No. 10 Ohio won on Saturday, but neither was usually dominant. The Tigers managed only 14 points against Georgia Institute of Technology, and The Birth struggled defensively before pulling away late against the unwinning Tulsa.
Clemson was ranked low in early 2015 when the Tigers started the season in their early teens but eventually entered the national championships.
In Ohio, the second week’s defeat to Virginia Tech caused Buckeyes to fall to 23rd place, with 11th being the lowest ranking since the 2014 season. They won the national title without losing again that season.
Both Clemson and Ohio last fell below 8th place on November 2, 2014, with Ohio 13th and Clemson 19th.
Voting points
Six ranked teams lost on Saturday, not in the top ten, but the total number of ranked teams lost in the first three weeks of the season was 19.
According to ESPN statistics and information, this is the most three-week season in poll history.
The 10 ranked teams that lost to the ranked team fill in the numbers. Also, only one top 10 team has lost to an unranked team. North Carolina was 10th in the preseason when it opened after losing to Virginia Tech.
The first few weeks of the 2021 season were volatile, but at first glance it wasn’t too crazy and unpredictable.

— No. 20 Michigan State University made an impressive start in its second year under the direction of Mel Tucker, averaging 23 points to 3-0. Sparta won 38-17 in Miami on Saturday and was ranked for the first time since October 5, 2019.
— No. 22 Fresno State University won perhaps the most thrilling match of the weekend and confused UCLA with two slow scoring drives led by quarterback Jake Hayner. Bulldogs are ranked for the first time since the last AP Top 25 in 2018.
No. 24 UCLA lost 11 spots after the first defeat of the season.
— No. 25 Kansas State University started 3-0 after defeating Nevada 38-17. Wildcats were easily ranked in 2020 and then finished 4-5.

— Arizona State University will play for the first time this season after losing to BYU. The Cougars moved up 8th to 15th after winning the ranked Pac-12 team twice in a row.
