Chicago (AP) — Justin Fields played in the second half after Andy Dalton was sent off with a knee injury against the previous team. The rookie quarterback used Chicago’s excellent defensive performance to beat Joe Burrow and Cincinnati Bengals 20-17. on Sunday.

Roquan Smith returned a 53-yard intercept for his first career touchdown. This is one of three straight picks Barrow threw during the decisive stretch of Chicago’s first win of the season.

Fields took over Chicago’s last drive in the second quarter after participating in several plays before that. But the biggest key to the Bears was the bounce of defense after Matthew Stafford pulled away in the opening round of the season at the Los Angeles Rams.

The Bears were 20-3 before Barrow threw a 43-yard touchdown to the jammer chase. Fields was then intercepted by Logan Wilson at Chicago 25, and Logan Wilson returned to 7. In the next play, Barrow hit Tee Higgins with a 7-yard TD and cut 20-17 with 3:39 remaining. However, the Bears continued to beat Cincinnati (1-1) for the third straight time.

Fields, 11th overall on the draft topic, completed 6 out of 13 passes at 60 yards. He also ran 31 yards.

Dalton played a second previous team in many seasons and threw a touchdown pass to Allen Robinson. The three-time professional bowler who led Dallas to victory in Cincinnati last year completed 9 out of 11 passes at 56 yards.

Dalton was injured in the second half of the second quarter. He received some warm-up throws in half-time but didn’t return to the game.

Robinson won his 40th career TD when he brought an 11-yard player at the opening of the game.

Barrow was 207 yards and 19 out of 30. The 2019 Heisman Trophy winner threw two TDs three times after scoring a career record in overtime passer rating (128.8) and yards per attempt (9.67) in Minnesota. It was chosen.

Bears (1-1) led 10-3 after Cairo Santos kicked a 28-yard field goal in the opening second of the fourth quarter set by Tashaun Gipson’s fumble recovery.

Smith became a 14-point game when he jumped back to the left sideline with a short pass aimed at 47-year-old Tyler Boyd.

Jaylon Johnson got his first career interception with Cincinnati’s next possession. After Chicago punted, Angelo Blackson got his first professional pro deep into Bengals’ territory with a ball deflected by teammate Alec Ogletree. That led to another field goal in Santos, which was 20-3.
