Justin Fields made his first NFL start with Cleveland Browns on Sunday, and Bears veteran quarterback Andy Dalton appears to have missed at least two weeks due to a knee injury. Can rookie quarterbacks and franchise hopes for the future meet the hype and high expectations of winning?

Former Bears offensive lineman James “Big Cat” Williams shares his view of Fields as a starter and three keys to the match against Browns.

1.1. Defensively, Bears put an old-fashioned ass hoopin in Bengals. They lost 6 tackles, achieved 8 pass breakups, 9 hits in quarterback, 4 sack, 1 fumble recovery and 3 intercepts (1 touchdown by Roquen Smith). They seemed to have a good plan and the players seemed to have regained some of their anger. They need to bring all this to the table against Browns, the team who wants to play smash mouth football and perform play actions from those runs to shoot down the field.

2.2. Unfortunately, Justin Fields will be the first quarterback against Browns. This week’s attacks should be more efficient. If the defense comes up with four turnovers against Bengals and the offense only raises 13 points, it’s not a recipe for a team tied to the playoffs. They have to find a way to play down the field around the field. In just over half of the regular season games, I saw Fields throw 13 passes, but none were designed to move out of my pocket. Is Nagy willing to check his ego at the door and put together a game plan that makes the most of Fields’ special skills, or he’s trying to fit a square peg into a round hole? Are you watching?

3.3. Once Fields starts the game, it becomes even more important for them to get in and out of the chat. This is to give you time to overlook the defense and communicate with Sam Mustiper at the center without rushing. You also need to make sure you clean up to get out of the timeout. For two weeks in a row, I’ve seen Bears come out aggressively after a timeout and make mistakes. This needs to be cleaned up. Whether it is a lack of understanding or a misunderstanding, it must be corrected. They are not going to beat a good team making the same mistakes.

predict: Bears 17, Browns 20
