Rockford, Illinois (AP) —Police arrested a man allegedly holding a wallet for a subway store employee during an attempted robbery in Illinois captured in a surveillance video.
A video of a subway clerk fighting a man was posted online and attracted attention this month. After that, the subway store owner stopped working for the employee.
Rockford police said a 30-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday after being identified as a suspect in an attempted robbery on September 5. He has been charged with armed robbery.
Employee Alaseri Sotero, 20 years old said Rockford Register Star Earlier this month she was working alone at a sandwich shop on September 5 when a man brought a gun and demanded money.
Surveillance video shows Sotero yelling “stop” and “move” to a man after entering the employee area behind the sandwich preparation counter. She fights the robber and takes his gun before he runs away with her purse.
