Surfing and flying meet at eFoiling

Alameda, CA-EFoiling is the latest trend in water sports, giving you the feeling of flying comfortably over the water. In addition, ABC’s friend Becky Worley taught me how to eFoil on the Bay.

“This experience is like surfing and bike riding, with flying components,” explains Worley.

The eFoil surfboard has an electric propeller on the wing of a hydrofoil so you can enjoy surfing without the need for waves.

“Just jump on the board and press the on button to speed it up,” explains Bay Foils co-founder Danielo Bonilla. “I have little experience or time, so I can get up and go. It’s like flying over the water.”

Many people describe this experience as the closest thing to flying without stepping into an airplane, as eFoiling feels like gliding in the air.

“It’s scary to start from the beginning and then be refreshed. It’s not what I’ve done so far,” Wally said. “This is a combination of gliding feeling that is immediately accessible when surfing because it has a motor.”

Bay Foils in Alameda is dedicated to the new sport of foil and teaches the basics of how to ride a foil board with the Fliteboard efoil.
