Henrico, Virginia (AP) — A tentative contract between snack company Monderes and union workers on strike could end the strike that began last month.
Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers, Grain Millers International Union and Mondelez issued separate statements on Wednesday announcing a tentative deal, but neither discussed the terms, Richmond Times-Dispatch. report..
Mondelez spokesman Laurie M. Guzinati said the tentative agreement was “fully recommended by both parties.”
Anthony Shelton, the union’s international president, said in a statement that the committee’s local officials would offer workers a tentative agreement within a few days and then vote for the agreement. It was uncertain when the vote would take place.
Monderes, one of the world’s largest snack companies, and the union have been negotiating a new four-year contract since the old contract expired at the end of May. This agreement is intended for members of six Mondelli’s sites.
