Chelsea in Manhattan-During a controversy over wearing a mask, police said Saturday that they stabbed a guard outside Manhattan’s Apple Store on Friday.
Officer Called to the Apple Store At around 6 pm on 9th and 14th west
Investigators said security guards asked the suspect to wear a mask when he entered the store and the debate continued. Police then said the suspect had repeatedly stabbed guards and fled the scene.
According to the NYPD, Apple Store staff returned the guards to the store and provided first aid until the EMS arrived.
The guards injured his arm and head, police said. He was taken to the hospital in an unknown state.
The suspect remained in large numbers on Saturday morning. Police have not yet released an explanation.
New York City does not have a universal indoor mask obligation, but individual businesses and business owners may require a face cover when entering the store. Apple’s website says I need a mask For all employees and customers.
