Alabama: The app may help cut long stadium food and drink lines | Nationwide

Tuscaloosa, Alabama (AP) —The University of Alabama has signed an online app, suffering from a shortage of stadium workers and complaints about long concession lines in home soccer games during a pandemic.

The school is also making other changes in hopes of speeding up the service during a homecoming game with Tennessee on Saturday.

With more than 101,000 spectators expected in Alabama, fans say they can use the waiter phone system to order food and drink at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Fans will be notified when the order is ready and will be able to pick up the item at the stadium window.

According to company spokesman Dean Turcol, the deal with Alabama was the first waiter to sign at a football stadium, but baseball fans are using the app in Louisiana and Mississippi. He said it was used in a spring match at Louisiana State University and a summer minor league match in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Other apps, especially including some design It has been adopted in various sports stadiums for such applications.

Alabama has been complained about a long concession line after its final home game with the University of Mississippi on October 2. Athletics director Greg Burn said part of the problem was the difficulty of finding workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Similar to the staffing issue at the gate, an average of 40% of the people who were supposed to make concessions on match days wouldn’t show up leaving them short,” he told supporters at the time. I wrote it by email every week.

In addition to offering online orders, the Athletic Department has announced that it expects additional workers to emerge this week after adding multiple external groups to the mix of workers. In addition, the menu has been streamlined and ordering technology has been added to speed up sales.
