Lynn died peacefully on Saturday after a brief illness announced in a statement by the Andy Griffith Museum in Mount Airy, North Carolina.
Lynn appeared on the show as Selma Lou from 1961 to 1966. She replayed her role in the television movie “Return to Maybury,” in which Selma Lou and Bernie married.

Born August 29, 1926 in Elizabeth Anteresarin, Kansas City, Missouri, Lynn began studying and acting in dance from an early age. In 1944 she began playing as part of the USO camp show.
Lynn took her talent abroad and played at the USO for military personnel during World War II. According to a museum statement, she was “believed to be the only American woman to travel on dangerous Burmese roads during the war.”
She moved to New York in the late 1940s and began acting in movies and later on television. After decades of her career, fans have come to know her best about her role at the Andy Griffith Show.
In his later years, Lynn reunited with fellow cast members and participated in various Mayberry-themed festivals.

Director and actor Ron Howard, who played Sheriff Andy Taylor’s son, Opie, paid tribute to Lynn in a Sunday tweet, saying, “All the scenes she is in and all the shooting dates she has set. I made it brighter. “
Lynn moved from Hollywood to Mount Airy in 2007 after a series of invasions at home. She expressed her love for the city to the Associated Press in 2015.

Lynn was working on an autobiography before her death, and it is now expected to be released after her death, the museum said.
