Dyersville, Iowa (AP) — Frank Thomas has found his dream field.

The Hall of Famer leads a venture that has purchased control of Go the Distance Baseball’s All-Star Ballpark Heaven and Field of Dreams Movie Site.

On Thursday, 53-year-old Thomas and Chicago real estate developer Rick Heidner’s company, This Is Haven LLC, owns a stake in Go the Distance Baseball owned by Dennis M. Stillman Trust. Said that he bought.

Thomas will be Chief Executive Officer and former Chicago White Sox General Manager Dan Evans will be Chief Operating Officer.

Stillman led a group that bought Field, the location of the 1989 movie “Field of Dreams,” and the adjacent Lansing farm in 2011. There is a working cornfield on the site of about 190 acres. She died in 2018.

Major League Baseball built a stadium adjacent to the movie site, and the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox played their first big league game there on August 12. The Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds will play there on August 11th next year.

Thomas was nicknamed the Big Heart for five All-Stars and two AL MVPs and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014.
