Glen Ellyn man sentenced to 33 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 65-year-old woman

Glen Ellyn, Illinois — A man in Glen Ellyn was sentenced to 33 years in prison on Friday after being sexually assaulted when a woman arrived at work in 2019.

Kenneth Hatren, 55, has pleaed one case of sexual assault. He was sentenced to 33 years and an additional three years for spitting on behalf of Sheriff DuPage County during his detention.

On May 9, 2019, the victim arrived at a restaurant in Glendale Heights to begin the shift. Before she opened the door, Hatren, a former restaurant employee, dragged her into the grass area. After that, she was strangled and sexually assaulted by Hatren.

Hatren then fled the scene and the victims were taken to a local hospital.

He was arrested in Darien the next day.

Hatren must be sentenced to 85% of sexual assault decisions and 50% of worsened battery decisions before being eligible for parole.
