In an excerpt from an interview with Parents, Paul McCartney Blame John Lennon To start the dissolution of Beatles Over 50 years ago.
McCartney has long been blamed for division, but now he calls division and its aftermath the “most difficult time” of his life.
“Stop there. I’m not the one who caused the division. No no no John came into the room one day and said he would leave the Beatles. Is that causing the division?” McCartney said. .. He added: “This is my band, this is my job, this was my life, so I wanted to continue it.”
79-year-old McCartney told the Guardian that he, George Harrison and Ringo Starr were “left to pick up the piece.” He added that the three were instructed to remain silent while the pending commerce was signed.
“So for a few months we had to pretend,” McCartney said. “It was strange because everyone knew it was the end of the Beatles, but we just couldn’t leave.”
McCartney added that he eventually decided to “take the cat out of the bag.”
