Springfield, Illinois (Wand)-Springfield Police Deadly Bunn-O-Matic shooting At the annual award ceremony.

The following police officers received the Porter Williams Award at the ceremony on Thursday for “the most prominent courage or heroic deeds by police officers,” especially for their response to shootings.

  • Sergeant Grant Burksdale
  • Officer Tammy Veil (ret.)
  • Officer Tim Eley (ret.)
  • Officer Leroy Jet
  • Officer Tad Starlet
  • Christopher Stout Officer
  • Officer Chance Warnisher

The William Herndon Award is given to plainclothes or active police officers who “performed the most prominent acts of the previous year.”

The following investigators were honored for their work on the murder case. Death of 24-year-old Abbey Niceler:

  • Sergeant Ryan Sims (ret.)
  • Detective Jason Slot Maruman
  • Detective Ryan Maddox
  • Detective Justin Spade
  • Detective Michael Mazurim
  • Detective Brian Harhausen
  • Detective Tim Zajisek

Finally, Lieutenant Joseph Vale won the Silver Suarez Award. This award is given to uniformed or active police officers who have performed “the most prominent acts of the previous year”. He was praised for his efforts to find and detain armed kidnappers and rescue the victims.
