Student, security guard shot outside Wendell Phillips Academy High School in Bronzeville – CBS Chicago

Chicago (CBS) — Students and guards were injured in a shooting outside Wendell Phillips Academy High School in the Bronzeville district on Tuesday afternoon.

According to an unconfirmed police dispatch report, the shooting took place outside the school at 244 E. Pershing Rd at around 3:20 pm.

Officials at the Chicago Fire Department said a guard, who looked like he was in his forties, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, but his condition was not immediately apparent.

A 14-year-old girl was taken to Kammer Children’s Hospital in serious condition.

Details were not immediately available.
