Subway surfer falls from the top of a New York train and dies

New York (WPIX) – A New York City man died early Saturday morning after falling from the top of a moving subway train when crossing Manhattan on the Williamsburg Bridge.

Police responded to the scene of the incident after 4:30 am. Upon arrival, police officers found the body of a 32-year-old man “unconscious and unresponsive” on the train. Paramedics declared him dead on the scene.

“Further investigation revealed that before the police response, a man was observed on the train while the train was moving. The man lost his foothold / positioning and was off the train. He fell on the railroad tracks below and was then attacked by a train, “police said in a statement obtained by Nexter.

The identity of the man was not immediately disclosed until the family was notified.

According to police, the investigation is ongoing.

As a result of the accident, the city’s J line service was affected for several hours early Saturday morning, but normal service resumed around 6:45 am, according to NYC Transit Authority.
