Chatham, Illinois (Wand)-The organizers of Chatham’s Illumination The Park are looking for 2021 volunteers.
Work on a festive event that transforms Chatham Community Park into a winter wonderland has officially begun. It features over 200,000 lights and over 50 displays along a course that lasts about a mile.
A Chatham Friends of the Parks official said there were volunteers preparing the infrastructure to drive the event. They begin assembling large displays, arches, and the popular tunnel of light before Halloween.
Volunteers are required most nights and every weekend until January 2022. Students looking for service hours are encouraged to participate and there are tasks available to most age groups.
We recommend that you offer a $ 5 donation per vehicle that passes through Light Up The Park. The proceeds will benefit the Chatham Park project.
Leaders said the projects funded by Light Up The Park included the conversion of several community park tennis courts to pickleball courts and the development of a dog park at Chatham Westside Park. Major construction of the dog park has been completed with a dog sanitation station and water supply facility, as well as a fenced area for small and large dogs.
Light Up The Park 2021 is scheduled for November 26th to December 26th.
