Benton Harbor lead pipe problem reminiscent of flint

For decades, Benton Harbor’s low-income, majority black community (within two hours from Chicago on the southeastern shore of Lake Michigan) has a series of hardships shared with many other once-prosperous American cities. Has been devastated by. Water can no longer be safely drunk. Last month, state officials admitted that residents need to drink and cook bottled water. Three years after the tests required by the new Michigan law at the time, high levels of lead that damage the brain in tap water were revealed.
