Ceremony to commemorate Veterans Day scheduled at UIS | Top Story

Springfield, Illinois (Wand)-University of Illinois, Springfield, has announced plans to commemorate Veterans Day.

Scheduled Thursday at 11:00 am, the event will take place at Student Life Plaza on the eastern side of the campus. We will feature the remarks of Alicia Tate-Nado, director of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency.

Tate Nado was the first woman to be promoted to Brigadier General of the Illinois Army National Guard.

In addition to guest speakers, UIS Interim Prime Minister Karen Whitney will speak. There is music from UIS Music Camerata Scholars.

Paid visitor parking for this event is located at Lot B at Student Life Plaza. Marked media vehicles can be parked in Lot A or B.
