Hot chocolate 5K / 15K returns to Chicago in 2021

Chicago – Like many things in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic effectively forced the infection in Chicago, but this year the situation has changed.

The hot chocolate race returns downtown in the hope that runners will attend a 5K or 15K event early Sunday morning and eventually participate in training with a sweet reward. Directly and virtually, more than 20,000 people are expected to participate in the race.

The post-race celebration, dubbed “America’s Sweetest Race,” will feature special hot chocolate from the event and other goodies for runners who have won medals at the end of the distance.

At WGN News Now on Friday, race director Lou Seal and event restaurant director Alan Kray talked to Larry Hawley about Sunday’s race with hot chocolate.
