Indiana pizza delivery driver dies after pouch collapses during delivery

Connersville, Indiana — A 45-year-old pizza delivery driver died Saturday after a pouch fell under him while trying to deliver pizza.

According to Connorsville police, the incident occurred at West 27th Street around 11:30 pm on Saturday.

Police officers responding to the scene reported finding a man passing through what appeared to be a collapsed porch in front of the house. According to police, the man was stuck on the debris and did not move.

Police said the man was taken to the hospital while the EMS in Fayette County was trying to save lives, but was eventually sentenced to death on arrival.

Police identified the man as William Fields, 45, of Connorsville. According to police, Fields was a delivery driver for Pizza King.

At this time, police have determined the death to be an accident and said there was no ongoing criminal investigation.
