David Gough, owner of Gough Heating and Air Conditioning, says that annual equipment inspections can save money in the long run.

“Maintenance at the beginning of the year can often go wrong,” he said.

Gough has been in business at Rockford for over 50 years and says his company is busy in the fall.

“With so many phones lined up, we now have some cleaning checks taking almost a month,” he said.

Randy Blum, one of Gough’s maintenance technicians, says it’s important to have a regular inspection of the furnace.

“Kamado is not something to play with. It’s very dangerous. There is carbon monoxide to worry about, there is a fire to worry about, and there are many things that can affect you,” he said. “Gas prices are rising and we need to do this optimally. If not, we are spending more than we need to.”

According to Blum, early maintenance can prevent midwinter problems.

“Usually, if you hear the noise and don’t know if it’s another noise that the furnace normally emits, there’s usually a problem. It doesn’t show up right away, but it does show up in the end,” he said. I added.

Goff said there is another common mistake homeowners often make.

“They don’t put on the kamado until it’s frigid, and it’s hard for us to answer each phone because there are so many people who don’t have a fever at that point. According to Goff, October-November is the best time to test.
