Boston (AP) — A member of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston’s union, which represents about 200 workers, voted for a one-day strike on November 17 over a deadlocked contract negotiation with management.
More than 96% of unions representing civil servants, librarians, educators, curators, conservator-restors, managers and professionals voted to picket outside the museum next Wednesday, union officials said. Told. Boston Globe For Thursday’s story.
Workers are concerned about wages, safety, workplace diversity, union membership and increased employment, according to Eve Maberger, a member of the union’s negotiation team.
“Management hasn’t really been involved in most of these issues and is back with very gentle adjustments,” said Assistant Object Conservator Maberger.
It was not clear what the strike meant to the visitor. A voicemail requesting comment was left to a spokesman for the museum on Friday.
Museum employees overwhelmingly voted to join the United Auto Workers Local 2110 last November.
