At the Probable Causes Court, prosecutors said Christopher Collins “made considerable effort” to make his wife appear to have been killed by an intruder.
Collins did not appear in court when he read the details of the case because he was evaluated in the mental health department.
This all happened a week ago at the couple’s house in Northwest Harris County, 18,000 blocks of Clayton Bluff Lane.
According to investigators, Collins initially called Jim from law enforcement and said his wife, Yuan Hwa Liang, sent him a text message about a stranger at home.
He met an investigator at the house where Liang was found dead in the living room.
But now, researchers believe it was all an elaborate ploy.
Former military man Collins and his wife are originally from China and share pets, gardening and other activities extensively on multiple social media channels.
Investigators say the story of Collins, a stranger in their house, just didn’t match. They pointed out that the house was not looted and said they found some guilty evidence when he went to the gym where he exercised.
Officials said he found Liang’s purse and her makeup bag in Jim’s locker, which Collins reported lost.
According to details revealed in court, a surveillance video at the gym reportedly showed Collins walking around for 45 minutes, exercising for 5 minutes, and then going to a cafe to make a phone call.
At the couple’s house, investigators noticed that Collins had a security camera installed. Police officers reportedly asked Collins why he didn’t check them when his wife sent a text about the intruder. According to investigators, Collins said he would use them to check his wife when he was abroad, but he wasn’t thinking of checking them on the day of her murder.

Collins reportedly told them he was driving a rental car because his car was regained.
According to investigators, Liang was shot wearing a sleep mask and found with a bag on his head. Prosecutors said this was further evidence for Collins, as it is common to cover the victim’s face when the suspect does not want to see someone die.
“I showed that the bag was placed on her head after she was shot. Based on the training and experience of the officers, when a person has a personal relationship with the deceased individual. Collins has been imprisoned for a $ 150,000 bond. The judge said he should not give up his passport and talk to witnesses.
If he makes a bond, he must wear an ankle monitor and has a curfew.
