Thanksgiving Meals: Chicago Celebrate Holidays With Free Meals For Those In Need

Chicago (WLS)-Chicago celebrates the literal meaning of Thanksgiving holidays by expressing and giving gratitude.

La Rabida Children’s Hospital celebrates Thanksgiving in its second year with a special drive-up feast for patients and their families. They distribute over 250 meals.

The chef of the American Culinary Federation prepared the meal. This includes a turkey supper with all the equipment and Eri’s cheesecake for dessert.

Due to the pandemic, the family plans to make contactless payments. ABC7 Eyewitness News A family member was there to partner with the hospital and help take over.

Previously, Rainbow PUSH Coalition distributed 400 meals to people in need. Rev. Jesse Jackson was at hand for a gift made with the help of Lynx Organization and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

Pastor Jeanette Wilson of the Rainbow Push Coalition said: “And we also support the Westside Justice Center. They have the same problem. They live alone, have no family and can’t even afford food.”

Representatives from the Veterans Group, Westside Justice Center, Rose of Roseland and others received a full Thanksgiving course from a Gibson restaurant.

The organizers of the effort said the supper would go to veterans, homeless people, churches with food rations, and others with food insecurity.
