Houston (WFLA) — Rapper Travis Scott said he was at least overwhelmed by the deadly turmoil. Eight people on the night of his Astroworld Festival performance.
“My prayers are directed to my family and all those affected by what happened at the Astroworld Festival performance,” Scott said.
Approximately 50,000 people attended on the first night of the two-day event, but as the timer counted down to Scott’s performance, the crowd began to move forward.
The eight killed were said to be between the ages of 14 and 27.
Chaos survivor said They were struck by a rampaging crowd, which scared their lives.
“Suddenly your ribs are crushed. Someone’s arm is on your neck. You’re trying to breathe, but you can’t.” New York’s Near Ala Goods, 28, told The Associated Press that he had to bite a man to move him to escape.
Goods also said that dozens of injured people would need to be removed in a gurney and wheelchair after she became safe.
Security has also been blamed for confusion. Houston police chief says The guards had to be given Narkan after being stunned by a needle.
Scott was accused of continuing the performance after noticing someone fainting during the performance, as seen in a video posted on Twitter. In the video, Scott asks the crowd to back up, but security is aimed at the unconscious.
The video also saw a crowd “Stop the show! Stop the show!” And a woman went to a concert worker and tried to stop the show.

Other Twitter users who said they attended the show criticized the handling of the event because of lack of sufficient security and prepared medical staff. Others have held enthusiastic fans accountable for their actions.
SZA, who played that night, said he was speechless about the dead.

Scott said he would support a survey of what happened to help find the answer to what led to such a deadly crowd surge.
“I promise to work with the Houston community to heal and support families in need,” he said. “Thanks for the prompt response and support of Houston PD, Fire Department and NRG Park.”
