Manhattan – A gun-armed man seen out of the United Nations on Thursday facilitated a large police response and caused a major traffic delay in Midtown.

Police vehicles and police officers were seen outside the United Nations near East 42nd Street and First Avenue. The live stream at the top of this story shows the reaction.

The situation was first reported around 11:00 am

As of 12:20 pm, the man was in conflict with the police as he put his gun on his chest and pointed his barrel at his head.

Earlier, an armed man was seen moving back and forth in front of a flag outside the United Nations, and at least one helicopter was flying overhead, a video from the Citizen app shows.

UN officials are evacuating to a given location, according to journalists working for United Nations..

According to the NYPD, people should avoid the area and traffic is retreating along FDR Drive.
