Police said the blockade of Evanston Township High School was lifted after two guns were found.

Evanston, Illinois (WLS)-Evanston Township High School was blocked on Thursday after two guns were found at school, police said.

Evanston police said at around 9:32 am, school resource officers received reports of students smoking cannabis in the ETHS bathroom.

Police and ETHS safety staff detained two students smoking cannabis, police said. During their investigation, police said two pistols had been recovered.

Evanston police commander Ryan Gruw said eight people were in the bathroom at the time and all were in custody. According to police, all eight students are boys.

Evanston Police will provide up-to-date information after a gun is found in ETHS

The incident urged ETHS to continue the blockade. After obtaining full permission from the police, the blockade was lifted and the student was dismissed.

Police said there were no shots and no injuries in the case. Investigations are underway and police said there was no current threat to public or other Evanston schools.
