Seventy-five elementary school students in California were forced to quarantine after their parents deliberately sent a COVID-positive child to class.

Corte Madera, CA-This year was a unique Thanksgiving break for dozens of families at a school in Northern California.

Approximately 75 students at Neil Cummins Elementary School had to be quarantined after a positive COVID-19 test and the parents of one student at the school deliberately sent their child to class. bottom.

Dr. Brett Guy Brett is the district director.

He says school officials learned about positive cases only after receiving a phone call from Marine Public Health asking why the student’s infection was not uploaded to the school’s database.

“I learned that the student wasn’t reported to us, and that the student had been in school for the past seven days,” Geisman said.

Following the discovery, Geisman says the school took immediate action.

“My parents received a text message on the night of the 18th and took the child to the gym so that everyone could do the test before entering the classroom,” he said.

Overall, eight students were positive and all cases were reported by the next night.

According to Geisman, the school district has been very clear about the COVID procedure since the pandemic began.

“As for the explanation of why they chose to keep their children in school, their first explanation was that they were uncertain about the COVID protocol,” Geisman said.

Despite the outbreak, supervisors state that the appropriate system is functioning and the situation is currently in control.

Some parents told us that the incident was shocking, but they believed it was a one-off event.

Many, like Jill Marty, say they are happy with how the director handled it.

“I have great respect for the role and work he has done here in our community,” she said.
